Prime Guard 1610 Metallic Epoxy Floor System and Prime Cast 2110 Solid Colored Epoxy Floor System.

Overview

To meet the performance and aesthetic demands of a military installation, the facility required two distinct flooring outcomes: (1) enhanced, durable, and visually appealing floors for administrative and office spaces, and (2) a highly robust, long-wearing, and chemically resistant flooring system capable of withstanding heavy vehicle and aircraft traffic in the hangar bay.

After reviewing the site conditions and operational requirements, Prime Coat recommended the Prime Guard 1610 Metallic Epoxy Floor System for the office areas to deliver a decorative, high-performance finish. For the hangar bay, Prime Coat specified the Prime Cast 2110 system to provide a textured, impact-tolerant surface with superior chemical and abrasion resistance.

Office Areas — Prime Guard 1610 Metallic Epoxy Floor System

Following comprehensive surface preparation, adjacent equipment and sensitive areas were carefully masked to prevent overspray or accidental coating. Certified installers then applied PC 101 EPOXYCOAT to the prepared concrete substrate as a primer to promote proper adhesion and chemical bonding with subsequent coats. Once cured, the team applied PC 341 ULTRACOAT with the selected metallic pigment pre-mixed into the material. The coating was distributed and manipulated in randomized patterns to achieve the desired metallic movement and visual depth. To complete the system, installers applied a protective topcoat of PC 551 MCUCOAT to enhance UV stability and increase resistance to abrasion and chemical exposure. For improved safety, aluminum oxide was broadcast into the topcoat and backrolled to create consistent slip resistance while maintaining a refined appearance.

Hangar Bay — Prime Cast 2110 System

In the hangar bay, certified installers applied PC 101 EPOXYCOAT as the primer coat and immediately broadcast aggregate into the wet resin to begin building thickness and reinforcing the system. Next, a body coat using PC 301 GLAZECOAT SV was installed, followed by an additional aggregate broadcast to further increase durability and wear capacity. A grout coat of PC 341 ULTRACOAT was then applied to encapsulate the aggregate while maintaining sufficient surface texture to provide natural slip resistance. Finally, the system was sealed with PC 551 MCUCOAT as the finish coat to deliver enhanced UV protection and superior resistance to chemicals, abrasion, and daily operational wear.

With Prime Guard 1610 delivering a high-end, decorative finish in office environments and Prime Cast 2110 providing the rugged, chemically resistant protection required for hangar operations, Prime Coat supplied a complete flooring solution engineered to perform under mission-critical conditions—enhancing appearance where it matters and ensuring uncompromising durability where it’s demanded most.
