Overview

To address the facility’s need to modernize aging, deteriorated shower units, Prime Coat proposed a comprehensive upgrade engineered for significantly greater durability, service life, and protection. Prime Coat recommended its patented, proprietary Seamless 5130 Shower System, an integrated coating solution designed to provide continuous coverage from floor to wall to ceiling.

Installation is completed by certified applicators following a strict preparation and application protocol. The process begins with grinding and mechanically preparing all floor, wall, and ceiling substrates to ensure optimal adhesion. Surrounding areas and any fixtures not scheduled for coating are carefully masked and protected. Once preparation is complete, installers patch and fill any cracks, voids, or joints that require repair to create a sound, uniform substrate.

Next, the system-specific priming phase is performed. PC 130 GELCOAT is applied to the walls and ceiling as a block-filling primer to promote bonding and create a consistent surface profile. For the floor, PC 101 EPOXYCOAT is applied as the floor primer, along with a 2-inch CANT cove to reinforce and seal the critical floor-to-wall transition, helping eliminate vulnerabilities at the joint.

After the primers have cured, PC 200 FIBERCOAT, a Kevlar and Fiberglass-Reinforced epoxy, is spray applied across all floor, wall, and ceiling surfaces to maximize build, impact resistance, and long-term performance. To complete the system, PC 280 GLAZECOAT epoxy wear coat is applied over all substrates, encapsulating the assembly and creating a continuous protective barrier throughout the entire enclosure.

The result is a seamless, fully sealed shower environment that delivers 360-degree coverage and enhanced resistance to abrasion, impact, and daily wear—providing unmatched durability and protection ideally suited for demanding institutional settings.
