Scope of Work
PRIME GUARD 1600 is a two coat system consisting of high-solids polyamide epoxy and a urethane topcoat specially formulated to protect and finish high-tech modular steel cell structures. 1600 resists scratching, graffiti and other inmate abuse. When the optional antimicrobial is included the cell surfaces get added protection from microbe and fungal growth.

A correctional facility sought to upgrade the floors and walls within its holding cells by installing a durable, high-performance coating system over existing metal cell surfaces and bunk beds. Prime Coat evaluated the application requirements and recommended the Prime Guard 1600 Steel Cell Protective Coating System, an industry-leading solution engineered specifically for metal substrates.
Certified installers began by mechanically abrading all metal surfaces designated to receive coating to ensure proper profile and adhesion. Following completion of surface preparation, PC 105-250 QUICKCOAT epoxy primer was spray-applied to all abraded areas. After the primer cured, PC 509S-250 CRUCOAT, an aliphatic urethane, was spray-applied over all primed surfaces. A final finish coat of PC 509S-250 was subsequently applied to further enhance UV stability and improve abrasion and chemical resistance.
The result is a coating system that significantly outperforms traditional paint, delivering an exceptional finish with superior durability. It resists abrasion-related damage and is formulated to maintain color stability, minimizing yellowing over time, even in demanding institutional environments.
