Prime Cast 2410 Urethane Concrete Floor System

Overview

A correctional facility’s kitchen required a comprehensive floor system upgrade after years of service-related deterioration. The existing concrete substrate had sustained significant damage from repeated thermal shock, caused by ongoing hot/cold cycling, as well as chemical attack from routine cleaning agents, food byproducts, and sanitation chemicals. Over time, these conditions contributed to cracking, surface breakdown, and reduced performance of the floor in a high-demand environment.

To address these issues, Prime Coat recommended the Prime Cast 2410 Urethane Concrete Floor System for its durability and enhanced resistance to chemical exposure and thermal shock. After all kitchen equipment was removed, certified installers mechanically prepared the concrete substrate to achieve an ICRI Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) of 2, ensuring proper adhesion and long-term system performance. Following preparation, PC 352 SL36 CRETECOAT, a self-priming, self-leveling urethane cement slurry, was applied across the conditioned substrate. While the slurry was still wet, silica sand was broadcast to refusal to build texture and strengthen the bond for subsequent layers. Once cured, a final finish coat of PC 421 NOVOCOAT, a novolac epoxy, was applied over the broadcast surface to provide enhanced chemical resistance and improved protection against thermal shock.

With the Prime Cast 2410 system in place, the facility now has a seamless, resilient, and sanitary flooring solution engineered to withstand the daily abuse of a correctional kitchen; minimizing downtime, improving cleanability, and extending service life.
