Prime Guard 3115 Colored Quartz with or without Recycled Glass Troweled Epoxy Mortar Floor System
This facility sought to renovate its sterility laboratory and clean room with a flooring system that would deliver long-term durability while maintaining a decorative, high-performance finish. After evaluating the project requirements, Prime Coat recommended the Prime Guard 3115 Colored Quartz Troweled Epoxy Mortar Floor System to meet the stringent demands of the controlled environment.
To ensure proper adhesion and performance, certified installers mechanically prepared the existing concrete substrate by shot blasting. Following surface preparation, a coat of PC 101 EPOXYCOAT was applied as the primer over the prepared floor.
Next, PC 341 ULTRACOAT was blended into a proprietary mix of colored quartz aggregate and hand-troweled over the primed surface to create a dense, seamless epoxy mortar system. Once the application cured, the floor was refined using orbital surface grinders to achieve the desired profile and smoothness.
The system was then grout-coated with PC 341 to fill any remaining voids and further enhance surface integrity. Finally, a finish coat of PC 341 was applied to provide additional chemical resistance and improved UV stability, resulting in a resilient, decorative quartz floor well-suited for clean room and sterility lab conditions.
