Overview

An animal care facility sought to upgrade flooring throughout the building, including animal kennels, wash-down areas, offices, and hallways, to improve durability while maintaining a clean, welcoming appearance for both staff and guests. To meet these goals, Prime Coat recommended the Prime Cast 2611 Decorative Flake Broadcast Floor System for the facility floors, along with the Prime Guard 1200 Kevlar- and fiberglass-reinforced epoxy wall system in the wash-down areas.

For the flooring installation, certified installers began by properly preparing the existing substrates to ensure optimal adhesion and long-term performance. A PC 101 EPOXYCOAT primer was then applied, followed by a full decorative flake broadcast into the wet resin. Once cured, a polyaspartic grout coat was installed to encapsulate the flake and build a smooth, uniform surface. The system was completed with a finish coat of PC 361 POLYCOAT, providing enhanced UV resistance to minimize yellowing and superior abrasion resistance to withstand daily foot traffic as well as wear from animal nails and claws.

In the animal wash-down areas, installers prepared the wall substrates before applying PC 101 EPOXYCOAT primer. Next, an impact-resistant body coat of PC 200 FIBERCOAT was spray-applied, delivering exceptional durability in high-use, high-moisture environments. Finally, a rolled finish coat of PC 280 GLAZECOAT was applied to create a uniform, professional appearance and an easy-to-clean surface.

With these systems in place, the facility gains a cohesive, polished look and the long-term protection required for demanding animal care operations, without sacrificing aesthetic design.
